wednesday vibes

I love jumpsuits. They just scream "instant outfit" and take a look from blah to amazing

This black one is a great jumpsuit I purchased from Nordstrom last winter. It has a great cinched waist with a bow detail and a flattering cut all around. The jumpsuit is a transitional piece between seasons as it is warm enough for chilly fall nights, but cool enough for the daytime sunshine and heat. In Southern California, we usually experience night temps in the 50-60 degree Fahrenheit range so I do not need a heavy coat and snow boots at this time of year. Sorry, East Coasters! Southern California is an endless summer year round.

layers

Oh, how I love layering during fall and winter. Tuesday's outfit was perfect for the fall chill we had been experiencing. I layered starting with my basics: jeggings and a tank top. From there I added my long sleeve blouse from Brandy Melville. I love the ombre design on the blouse and thinks it adds a great deal of depth to what would be a basic long sleeve t-shirt. I also added a warm, comfy scarf in a neutral color and my favorite black riding boots.

And voila ... instant layering perfection.

sunday best

I love wearing white year round. I feel that old "no white after labor day" rule has been proven wrong and outdated time and time again. Here I am pairing my white denim with a favorite Free People tank of mine. This shade of green is so pretty and is universal - I can pair it with so much. I find with wearing white in winter (especially white denim) you have great possibilities in styling. White looks great with strong jewel tones (such as this green shade) as well as white, cream, tan, and black.

I am having a lot of fun styling my hair with my LOB (a.k.a. a long bob). I was able to create this pretty French twist with such ease today. The style is something I would have never been able to create myself when I had my long hair.

specs

How darling are my new Ray Bans? I love them. They are super fun and feel like a great fit with my new hair cut.

I want to wear them all the time (even if I just need them for reading :)). A huge thank you to Lenscrafters for the wonderful service I received. They are the best!

the most wonderful time of the year

My husband and I took our Christmas card photos this weekend. A big thanks to my beautiful sister for taking our photos. We went to the Montage in Laguna Beach to take them and the Montage holds such a special place in my heart. I got engaged at the Montage and spent my wedding night as well as first anniversary there. It it one of the most beautiful places in the world.

Here are some of my favorite photos from the day. It is so hard to find the best outfit for something such as family photos, but I feel like going with the most simple options is best. A color scheme of black, white, or blue for example looks great in photos as well as on various skin tones. My husband and I went with basic white with dark, blue denim for our photos. I added the red lip (a mix of MAC Russian Red and Chanel Brilliant) for a holiday hue.

lately.

Happy Sunday to you all,

I hope you all had a great weekend. I made sure to relax and spend time with my husband and sweet Anabelle. On Thursday night I chopped my hair off courtesy of my amazing hair stylist, Ashton. I have loved the lob (long bob) and been envying those with it for quite a while. I am so thrilled I finally decided to go for it and chop off my hair because I love the results.

The following are photos of my various weekend looks. All of the outfits were more casual and comfortable for my more quiet weekend.

I hope you all have a fabulous and stylish week.

cozy knits

Cozy sweaters are my jam. There is nothing better than throwing on a big, cozy sweater and enjoying the crisp, fall air. This morning I threw on this great sweater by Forever 21 along with my black flares from GAP. Add on a pair of classic black flats and my camel Dooney and Bourke and voila ... instant outfit.

sweater:LOFT. pants:GAP. flats:Target. handbag:Dooney and Bourke.

This evening I threw on my all time favorite sweater. Hellllooooo, look at this cable knit pattern , color, and fit ... how can you not love this sweater?

There are so many great knits in every price range. If you are the the hunt for your own cozy knit, I suggest heading the mall with some time on your hands to check out stores within your price range comparing color, texture, and style of all the sweaters you see. You should look for something that will last you many fall and winter seasons. You will want a solid color knit with great, classic detail like a cable woven design.

Once you find the sweater of your pumpkin latte, apple pie, fall loving dreams make sure to care for it properly to ensure it lasts. Never ever hang your sweater up as hanging it will cause unwanted stretching and will change the shape of your sweater. You will need to keep your sweater folded nicely on a shelf in your closet to ensure the best care. During the summer season make sure to store your sweater in a storage box or bag that will keep it from moths or any wearing out throughout its shelf life.

#AEOstyle

I love American Eagle Outfitters. They have such a great California casual and effortless vibe to their clothing and accessories. It is one of my favorite stores to shop at and I love wearing their clothing.

I am always very flattered when American Eagle Outfitters shares one of my photos on #AEOstyle (http://on.ae.com/LWHNAF).  Please shop the style on their website along with my jeggings (not shared on their link) which are so fun and comfortable to wear.

P.S. if you haven't tried their jeggings yet, PLEASE do yourself a favor and do so. They are the most comfortable and flattering jeggings I have found, plus the price point doesn't hurt :)

monday funday

                         hello to you all,

I am so happy to report I am finally feeling better after fighting off a cold for a week and a half. I feel like myself again and am making the vow to be consistent in taking my vitamins and emergen-C every day. NO exceptions.

This weekend was so great. I spent Saturday with my sister in downtown San Diego. We shopped Horton Plaza all day long along with getting lunch and exploring the Gaslamp District. I picked up some great things at GAP, American Eagle, and PacSun. I am very happy with all I purchased and I caught the great sales for Veteran's Day weekend.

Here is my Monday outfit for my relaxing day off. I wish I could tell you I did something more exciting than I did. I napped, caught up on some DVRed shows, and took my dog on a walk in the harbor. It was such a great "me" day after the craziness of the move and everything else I had going on in October.

I am looking forward to sharing great outfits with you throughout the week. Please check in on the blog for some styling inspiration.

                             xoxo Amanda

All Hallows Eve

I will be honest with you and let you know now that Halloween is not my favorite holiday. It is fun and I enjoy it, but all I am really thinking about is Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I still had a great time getting my costume today (this year I was all about reusing and being thrifty with what I had) for my husband, myself, and Anabelle. Yes, I am now the person who dresses her dog up for Halloween.

I went with a zoo concept this year - myself as a black cat, Anabelle as a tiger, and my husband as the zoo keeper. We were able to dress up on our vacation this weekend and enjoy our time with friends and family. I was even able to get my husband to go into a haunted house ... talk about a miracle!

I am looking forward to next year's costumes. Until next time

Salvation Mountain

After being mesmerized by all the photographs I have seen of Salvation Mountain, I was so thrilled to finally have the opportunity to see it this past weekend. I went to the desert with my family and we were able to use our off roading vehicles to go check out the mountain. The man who created Salvation Mountain spent over 28 years pouring his heart and soul into the work. That is some heart and soul dedication if you ask me.

Here are some photos of our trip. I am already wanting to go back with my Canon DSLR and get some high quality photographs.
